Soak Up Culture

About Soak Up Culture

We write the guide we wish we'd had.

Soak Up Culture started as a shared spreadsheet of local food stalls, museum detours, and neighborhoods worth the walk, and grew into a full destination and gear-review site. We're independent, ad-supported, and funded in part by affiliate commissions — which means we only make money if the thing we recommend is actually good enough that you book it or buy it.

Every guide here is independently researched, not sponsored. We compare published specifications, warranty and policy terms, current pricing, and what long-term owners and recent guests consistently report — then say plainly what each option is good at and where it falls short, with an eye toward the history and culture that make a place worth slowing down for.

Nothing lands on a "best of" list because a brand asked, and nothing here is reprinted from a press kit. Where a pick has a real weakness, we say so in the same breath as the praise — a recommendation is only worth reading if it is willing to tell you what is wrong with the thing.

How we make money

Affiliate Commissions

Where a link is an affiliate link, we may earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you, and disclosed on the page.

Display Advertising

Ads are clearly labeled and never disguised as editorial content.

Sponsored Content

None. We do not publish sponsored features or paid placements. If that ever changes, the article will be labeled, and so will every card that links to it.
